Project Manager / Software Development Manager for Indiana State Department of Health Lab.  12/2006-present
On behalf of Bucher and Christian Consulting:

·         Managed the implementation of STARLIMS, a laboratory information management system (LIMS) to automate laboratory operations.  STARLIMS is an ERP system designed to automate functions across the laboratory, including receiving and barcoding samples, interfacing with lab testing instruments, reporting testing results, and billing.

·         Managed vendor relationships and held vendors accountable for delivery and quality targets

·         Coordinated development and implementation of LimsNet, a web site to allow health clinics to submit data to the Department of Health and receive results electronically.  Data from LimsNet is used for disease testing, and is aggregated and analyzed for potential bioterrorism threats. 

·         Managed help desk staff, testers, and programming resources. 

·         Created policies and procedures for trainers, help desk, and lab staff in use of software.

·         Worked with testers and lab management to coordinate product’s rollout. 

·         Emsure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations

The overall implementation dramatically reduced the lab’s turnaround time, eliminated the need for a large data entry staff, and reduced the lab’s error rate.

Technologies used include ASP.Net 2.0, VB.Net, C#, Ajax, and Oracle 10g / Oracle 9i.

 

Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Dimension11 Inc.  6/2001 – 11/2006.

The company specializes in the development of e-commerce applications using a Microsoft platform.

 

Directed delivery of the company’s consulting services.  Major customers/projects included:

·         Inland Container:  Managed project for a team of Dimension11 staff and internal Inland staff to create the web site PackageGenie.com, an e-commerce web site.  Based on Microsoft Commerce Server, the site allows the on-line design and ordering of printed boxes, and takes the user through an interactive box design process using Flash, and includes a shopping cart feature, credit card validation, and dynamic retrieval of shipping prices via a link to UPS.

·         Sagamore Health Network:  Managed project and software development life cycle on several large projects.  Projects included a variety of web-based and desktop applications enabling Sagamore employees and customers to access and update health insurance claims data and medical information

 

Technologies used included Microsoft Commerce Server 2000, MTS, ASP.Net, SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio.Net, VB 6, Crystal Reports 8.5, and ASP).

 

Marketed the company’s services to new customers and attended sales meetings.  Created quotes, project plans, and statements of work.  Evaluated profitability of customers, and set budget for marketing and I.T.

 

Applications Architect for Getronics, Inc.  4/2000 – 5/2001.

Acted as project manager, team lead, architect, and developer for Getronics, a global e-business consulting company.

 

Served as team leader on e-business software development projects for Simon Property Group, a Getronics customer.  The project involved creating an e-business web site that runs on a Windows NT Server machine using Internet Information Server 4.0 and MTS with an IBM DB2 database and applying the Microsoft Solutions Framework.  Used JavaScript, VBScript, ASP, HTML, SQL, and ADO.  Business objects were created in VB and accessed via COM+.  The web site implemented membership administration functionality for Simon’s MallPerks program, which has 2.5 million members.

 

Project manager and lead developer on other projects, including an internal web site for Inland Container using Interdev, Internet Information Server, ASP, and SQL Server.

 

Assisted in the creation of business proposals.  Acted as a technical resource during sales visits.  Participated in interviewing and hiring decisions for potential employees.

 

Left Getronics when the Indianapolis office was closed down in May of 2001.

 

Director of Software Development for Financialware, Inc.  7/98 – 4/00.

Began as a software consultant and was promoted to Director of Software Development.  Led team of six developers.  Directed the creation of check imaging and other financial software for Financialware’s banking customers.  Scheduled product release dates.  Software was written under Visual Basic 6.0 using SQL Server 7.0 as the back-end database, and taking advantage of Microsoft’s COM architecture using in-house ActiveX DLL’s and OCX’s.  Started development of the next generation of Financialware’s browser-based Internet banking software using IIS, ASP, and VBScript.  Created documentation standards for technical documentation and version control of software products.

Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Butler University.  Graduated in June, 2001 with a GPA of 3.7.

 

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University, 1993.  Coursework included databases, operating systems, compilers, numerical analysis, computer hardware engineering and digital electronics.
